Official Date Change!

Here Now’s Date has Changed!

We would like to take this opportunity to alert the Here Now community to a very exciting change! The Here Now pop up event will now be happening in the autumn of 2013 (projected dates are September 15 – October 15)!

As our community of supporters, you may have been wondering what has been happening since the success of the Here Now Kickstarter campaign. For the past month and a half Alexa, Galen, Nathan, and Kendyll have been working tirelessly on incentives (to thank our amazing backers!), communicating with artists, making work, and finding a space in NYC. Just as we were about to sign a lease on a shop in Brooklyn we realized that we need more time! Here Now is not something we want to rush – it is a project that we want to devote time, energy, and thought to.

And so, we began to shift our focus to a fall show. As we contacted the artists and organizations involved in Here Now, we began to realize what a truly wise decision we had reached. We have been blessed with an amazing amount of support and we are determined to honor that support, and the work of the artists involved in this project, by giving ourselves more time to create an event that will showcase craft, creativity, and art-making in a unique, exciting, and professional way.

The next few months hold many changes for the founders of Here Now. Galen Koch and Kendyll Gage-Ripa will be journeying east – to Maine and Washington, DC – and will communicate directly with east coast artists and collaborators from the Atlantic side of the U.S. Alexa Stark and Nathan Reimer will be in Portland, OR for the summer; Alexa has teamed up with the owners of the Portland boutique BACKTALK (she is now the in-house designer at the shop!) and Nathan continues to run a successful screen printing business at The Make House. While we are sad to split ourselves geographically, we are excited to have two partners on the east coast – Galen and Kendyll will be sharing the excitement of Here Now with new people and places and (maybe most importantly) going directly to New York City to meet with artists and organizations who are involved in the project!

We invite you, our supporters, to join us this fall in New York for Here Now! We will continue to share the work of Here Now and its contributing artists on our wordpress blog, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Thank you!
